D200 with the 170-500 at 500. No tripod, but resting camera and lens
on the truck door, some shake though.
To me its soft.

I might just get me one - they are quite affordable at the moment.
I alrady have a Sigma 135-400mm, which is NOT sharp enough for my needs. And
it's gone take a while before a can afford a real Pentax long tele photo lens.

I still have mine in Nikon mount. I find the long end a little to soft
on the long end but yes not to bad.
