mark, i know of no such sites that are that specific, but i'd suggest you
go to the adobe user-to-user forum where a lot of pros and very serious PS
users hang out. this question has come up frequently there. as for
monitors, the two most commonly recommended are the lacie and the cinema

this is not quite correct. when using winXP pro and CS2, there's a way to
get PS to use almost 3gb of memory. With 4gb of ram installed you'd set a
"switch" in the boot.ini file that reads /3gb. Photoshop will then make
use of about 2.7gb of ram, the rest going to other programs and the OS.
No,
Let me try to improve the clarity of my request: Can anyone recommend
sources of information (i.e., online review sites) that review computer
products from a photo-editing perspective? For example, I don't care so
much about fast refresh time in a flat-panel monitor; I'm much more

Mark,
I most recently enabled myself with an Eizo L768 19" flatscreen, which I
consider a noticable improvement over my 19" CRT. They are standing on
my desk side by side, so differences are easy to see. Resolution is
higher, and I like the 5:4 ratio for portrait oriented pictures. I can

More memory than a current version of Windows can use most of us can not
afford. Photoshop however, in the Windows version, can only use 2 gb
max. So if you only run Photoshop 2 gb is the limit. However if you run
Photoshop and something else at the same time maybe you could use more

there's a limit on how much memory ps and windows can use. depends in
great part on which os is used. getting more memory than the os and ps can
use is pissing money away.

Hi!
I'm interested in getting computer/monitor recommendations that are
aimed at photo editing functions (e.g., "which flat-panel monitor is
best for photoshop?") rather than high-end game play (e.g., "which
system gives higher frame rates in Far Cry?").
Suggestions?

Oh, yes, the printer. I'm having an R2400 too. Should arrive next Monday.
Hope it's worth the price tag.

I'd like something like then when I *eventually* buy a G5 Tower. :-)
Right now I have to wait until my wallet recovers from the printer
purchase.

Yes, the needs for still photography are significantly different than
the needs for 3D motion rendering... :-)
I use the Apple 20" Cinema Display built into an iMac 20" (G4
series). Superb screen, same as the stand-alone Cinema Display 20".
The iMac G5 20" is even better and makes for a fas

All,
I'm interested in getting computer/monitor recommendations that are aimed at
photo editing functions (e.g., "which flat-panel monitor is best for
photoshop?") rather than high-end game play (e.g., "which system gives
higher frame rates in Far Cry?").
Suggestions?
