Cool! That reminds me... I have a 1947 Silvertone AM/FM pushbutton memory console model radio around here somewhere... powers up but makes a buzzing sound... i've been told it's got a bad capacitor somewhere in it... not too many there, so that shouldn't be TOO hard to hunt down. --- graywolf

You obviously dont have a clue as to how GREAT HD Radio is. It is HIGH DEFINITION-- MILLIONS of times better than even FM stereo radio because the HIGH sampling/data rate that is much better than analog FM. I think if you have any ears at all and listen, it IS pretty impressive. me graywolf

BUT? Can you tell people you just got one of those Portable Shortwave Radios. That the only problem with it is that it is the size of a small suitcase, and weighs 25 pounds with battery, but you can not get the battery for it anyway. I really did appreciate your effort, Mark, but somehow

The thing to do is replace all the electrolytic and paper capacitors in it. Cost is usually less than $10 if you do it yourself. The multiple condenser cans are pretty much a thing of the past and nowadays are replaced with indivilual caps under the chassis; unless it is a museum grade restorat
