I have posted the initial version of my Old Mills page at:

https://plymouthcolony.net/photos/pages/mills.html

The initial photos are all of old water-powered mills in Floyd Co., VA. All of the photos except for Mabry Mill (which was taken last year) are preliminary photos, taken on a cloudy day scouting trip last Tuesday to get a feel for what I'm doing. One objective is to show the mill wheel, if it is still there. Another is to give an indication of the overall physical condition of those mills. Of the mills photographed last Tuesday only Vaughn's Mill is still operating. It was converted from water to diesel power years ago, but still produces Indian Chief flour. Water-powered mills, like covered bridges, are a vanishing part of our history. After I complete my photographic survey of Floyd Co. mills (which will include better photos taken on sunny days) I will explore other counties near me in southwestern VA.

One option that I am considering adding is a set of maps so that other folks can more easily find old mills that I have visited.
