Say WHAT? They do what they have to do to come up with what the
engineers and marketing have specified. Whatever they have to do to
get there is fair game.
I suggest that they are showing their keen expertise, by using all

You are right Mike,
I thought for a moment that the original poster was telling me that an f/2.6
lens in a digital camera was equal to an f/1. lens in 35mm format.
On another note, I own a Dimage 7 but still get more enjoyment out of my 6x9

The term "focal length," at least according to my standard references (_The
Focal Encyclopedia of Photography_ and _The ICP Encyclopedia of
Photography_), should not be abbreviated. Its symbol is (stylized or
italic f, in case it doesn't come through ascii) in

Sure. That was meant to be the shortcut way of expressing focal
length. "f/l." Eff slash ell. Not "f/1."
The lower case L looks mighty like a ONE, doesn't it?
Sorry about the confusion.

Is there manual exposure in Optio S? There is no "Metered Manual"
mentioned in the Exposure mode. There is a "User" setting

Actually, because of the diminishing CCD sensor size and the requirement
of only a small image c
