Thanks Marnie. Actually, being encased in ice will protect the ivy from wind burn and subzero temperatures. It stays right at 32 degrees. When there's a severe frost, farmers sometimes spray water on their crops. Having them ice over is better than exposing them to the elements.. --

No. You didn't have too much to drink. Well, maybe you did:-)) But you're right, they do look like elephant's trunks. It was very cold, but the sun was brilliant, and it melted some of the snow on the roof. As soon as it fell onto the ivy in the garden, it froze again. Thus the ice scupture
