But you inspired me to take out the K 85/1.8 yesterday. Didn't get a
good cafe portrait, but really didn't have a good shot. But the focal
length was okay for the most part. May try with it again.

in this situation. To grab these portrait shots I position myself in
a chair with the camera in my lap. I drink coffee, read the paper,

Yep. It's become my walkaround lens for the most part. Shooting
across a room, I need the reach. This one was at 125 mm, f6.3,
1/160th, ISO 640.
