But this you did fine Jostein.
One definite keeper is not bad for a practice.
That's what this is.

I generally like duck shots just about as much as I like cat shots
(not much), but this one is most excellent. You have done something
beyond the normal with this. The strong water background and almost
silhouette of the duck, but keeping the eye visible just makes this

Nice quacker Jostein.

About one in ten Picassa shots won't open for me, and this can be
counted as one of the one in ten.

Can't see either the thumb or the photo...

First time I open Picassa, it gives me the whole series.
2nd time I connect to the link, it gives me the quacker.
(Beautiful bird, great shot with the waves and water on it's back!)

Very nice. I think a lot of duck shots are boring, because, yeah, it's a
duck. But the light in this one (plus the coloration of the duck) raises it
above the ordinary.
It's all about the light, innit... :-)
Thanks Marnie.

I was planning for silhouettes. Then this guy came along with much
lighter plumage than the mallards and with such nice irises to boot.
Had to fiddle a bit with the contrast/curves in PS, Would have loved
to lighten the shadows a tad with a flash, but I didn't have one with
me.
I've sometimes had problems with friends not being able to access my
Picasa web albums. I've never worked out why. Usually when they try
again, it works OK.
With single images it may be better to link directly to the image.
For example, this link goes direct to your First Quacker without
