Just point, pan and hold the shutter button down. ("Help me robocamera, help me!") I had perhaps three seconds in which to get a decent photo. I got several duds and this shot. >considering that the focus is on the runner in the center of the frame, I >think it works okay. I wasn't even aware of these people when taking the picture, I just discovered I liked them afterwards. >This is a case >where a faster shutter speed or better support would have come in >handy. I'm assuming you weren't using a tripod, but did you have the >400mm on a monopod or handheld? Hand held, hence the 800 speed film. Personally, though, I like the shutter speed as it seems to me a good compromise: the runners are sharp but not totally frozen and there's a little blurring of the spectators due to the panning. I'm going to be back there this year as my S.O. is running Boston (see http://www.robertstech.com/dfmc) and I think I'll get a monopod for the occasion. >In either case, I like the way you convey >the sense of motion, and the facial expressions of the runners are >great... This was one of my first attempts at sports photography and it's definitely a different gig for me. We'll see what I can come up with this year. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
