Keith, It weighs 8.0 lb (3.64 kg) including everything but the photo gear. The neoprene sheet is not solid, it takes advantage of the case's internal structure, and of the gear being stored in it. There are really only three levels of neoprene sheet (in addition to the bottom and side padding).

The dividers are awesome. They're thickly padded and can be assembled in a variety of ways, They come with the foam piece for inside the cover. You need that. The only real alternative to the dividers or the foam is to by your own foam and cut it to fit, but you have to be sure you get a variet

I love my Pelican cases. I wouldn't think of keeping my cameras in anything less secure. I have a 1550 and a 1520, both of which I've carried on to planes without a problem. The 1550 is quite a bit wider and only slightly shorter than the 1510, so it probably holds a bit more equipment. However
