Well it's a re-badged Tamron with Pentax Electronics and SMC. Tamron makes good lenses. I used to use the Pentax 28-200, also a re-badged Tamron, along with the FA 20-35 as a two lens kit, On the *ist-D the Ds and the K20D and it was much better than it's reputation, (until I banged it
