it's different for sinodonts
Incisors - 1 root/nerve
Bicuspid - 2 roots/nerves
Molars - 4 roots/nerves
at least that's what I've experienced.
I've also had a root canal on a molar where they missed the 4th root.
I guess it's easy in the x-rays.
