Having seen my first cormorant (official count is 220 along the 53 km
length of
it) on the 'artificial city lake' portion or the Alster river yesterday, I
googled
that and stumbled upon the fact that the cormorant was chosen as 'Bird of
the Year' by German environmentalist organization NABU.
