Thank you, Frank -- and thanks for the kind words.
I guess looking at my photos at full resolution on a 24" screen revealed
a LOT of noise and, oddly enough, blur and a general lack of sharpness
in some images that looked much better to my on my old monitor. The

Proper distance? For a Spyder, Huey, i1, etc. it's 0mm.
What are you using to calibrate?

Thanks, Rick.
I've been working on the calibration thing. One minor issue is that my
computer desk is situated such that in in order to get the proper
distance away from the monitor, I'd have to blast a hole in the opposite

Yup, a red tailed hawk.
Make sure you calibrate your spiffy new monitor--from the factory they're
designed to have things bright and punchy. That can make pix look dark and
timid to others, and in prints.
I've been very happy with my Dell U2410 and U2411 (1 at home, 1 at work).
Cheers,
Rick
More dramatic, i like it better than number 1

Nice! I didn't see the original, but I like this one. I've yet to
photograph one of these redtails with food. Whenever I see them they
just seem to be hanging around, chillin.
But back to your shot: great pose, and whatever you cropped out, good
riddance! :-)

Great experience - I had a similar experience once, but with a kestrel and
