You complain people are complaisant and don't protest about infringement on
freedoms. And yet you call activists, who do protest, terrorists without bombs?

Freedom should be absolute up to the point that it begins to infringe

As a former, (very former), member of the working press, I knew my
rights. Which didn't differer from those of the public at large. I was
never arrested or roughed up, but I did have a few scary moments. I
used more tact back then, than I seem to have lately.

You live in a different world than I do. The police have often hassled
the press. However, the media usually has more money to proceed with
legal remedies, and of course plenty of access to influencing public
opinion.

It really doesn't matter if they think there's a law or not. The police
couldn't shut down an official press photographer that way, and the

This is so stupid and so ironic.
Philly (where I live) is on its way to breaking its
record for the number of murders in a year, which was
set (IIRC) in 1993.
The police say the main problem is the large number of
intimidated people who won't cooperate with
investigations--"don't snitch" is the r

Would be interesting to learn if there were such a "law" in effect at
the time. Were the Police following their Department's self-imposed
'rule'? Reacting to their understanding of a City 'ordinance'? or...?
The court will likely sort it out.
