The best one I've found, we use it as standard at work, is Ad Aware.
It's easy, effective and free.
Go to www.download.com and search for "Ad Aware".
Download, install, *update* and run.
Works against about 95% of the nasties out there.

Ditto. They are both free for personal use.
Yesterday I installed SP2 on a friend's computer which was so badly
infested with viruses, adware and spyware it was almost unusable, and

their Adaware program. It's a free download. You can pay them
a license fee for some extra bells and whistles but the free license is

AdAware (Lavasoft) is OK, but it's not, in and of itself, the best, but,
perhaps, the most popular. As suggested by others, it's probably best to
run a couple-three programs since they each have different strengths.
Many's the time I've run AdAware followed by another program, and the

I use hitmanpro, it is not a program that removes any adware or spyware itself,
but it installs several of the anti adware programs alreasdy mentioned like
adaware, and runs them.
I have seen a test on these anti adware programs, there is none that removes
them all, so you need to run more of th
Something else to remember: Like virus protection, one must keep these
anti-spyware programs up to date with their detection schemes. I've been
using spybot and they have an update available every so often.
