The lens most likely was made to work as an autofocus lens with a very
specific camera . . . I forgot the model offhand (ME-F?), but know it's
mentioned on Boz's site.
This was Pentax's rush into autofocus, and placed the motor in the lens
instead of in the camera body . . .

reunited with it's true host? Actually if you look around you can get the
bodies for a reasonable price. You would then have a very nice bit of Pentax

Looks like you got the lens for the ME-F (or whatever it was called),
the first Pentax AF camera. It was an ME Super with extra contacts that
used that lens. While it will mount on current Pentax AF cameras, I
believe that it will only function as a manual focus lens.
Other questions about i
This lens was a special for the ME-F (I have the camera but not the lens)
I think that you can use it as a manual lens but it will not work as an AF
lens with any other camera.
I believe that the quality was not great but im not sure about that.
