  Absolutely. You have to be very determined to even take out the
  camera in the middle of a serious effort. Besides, every additional
  maneuver like changing mounts is a source of psychological fatigue
  and even irreparable errors. During a climbing I prefer to switch
  the camera on auto and the only adjustment I'm willing to make is
  to dial compensation. Of course I can afford to switch back to
  serious photography (tripod, manual meter) in the proximity of the
  camp.
