Some cards have them, some cards don't. I don't think they're very
important but they can when bent out of position keep the card from
functioning correctly. The may also be able to damage the reader if
they're bent out of position, though I've never actually seen a reader
damaged...

Dave, take the card out of service. They are cheap enough that it hurts
less to do that than to damage the reader inside the camera.
