Download speed depends upon:
- the read speed possible with the cards in question
- the IO capabilities of the reader device
- the efficiency of the USB or FireWire implementation on the host
system

I have several multi-format card readers. The same cards, both CF and
SD, will transfer at different rates in each of the different readers
to the same host computer.

It's a complicated world... ;-)
