Need help, please. Remember that USB hard drive that I ordered? I will need to format it to NTFS (I use Windows XP Home). Rummaging through Microsoft's Knowledge Base, I am finding only instructions for formatting drives that are in the computer, and only for formatting them to either FAT 16

Sorry, I don't know the links, but it is rather simple. From a command prompt: format F: /FS:NTFS where F: should correspond to the letter assigned by windows to the drive you want to format. You can check it by opening My Computer and seeing the letters corresponding to the drives.

A warning: My external drive was formatted FAT32 and I decided to reformat it to NTFS. A bad idea if you carry the drive around and connect it to other computers. I lost some valuable files. I formatted the drive again as FAT32 using the format utility from western digital and my problems are
