I've actually had an experience right after 9/11 at O'Hare in Chicago (don't
know if it makes a difference though), but it went like this:

Me: Oh, I almost forgot. I have film that I need inspected.
Security: OK sir, then just put it in the tray.

Me: Yeah, but I want it hand inspected.
Security: I know sir, just go ahead and put it in the tray.

Me: OK, here you go. *reaching out and handing her the tray with the film
in it*
Security: Go ahead and put the tray down.

Me: But I need it hand inspected.
Security: I know sir, just go ahead and put the tray down.

Me: OK (figuring I can't hand it to her directly for security reasons, I
place it on the conveyor for her to pick it up as I pass through)

She doesn't bother picking it up and purposely lets it run through the X-Ray
machine.

Note to self.... pick up lead lined film carrying pouch.
