Weird Lightroom keywording issue

Here's an odd one: I'm gathering photos for the 2013 PDML Photo Annual. Naturally, Lightroom is a big help in organizing the images and making basic corrections (Note: So far Annsan is winning the coveted "Most Dust Spots On the Sensor" award for 2013). I also add three keywords to each image file
