confusing k-x behavior

I've got my FA50/1.4 attached. I'm shooting in low light, but with the flash. It's exposing the images properly. But the images all have 1/8 @ f2.5. And the shutter sounds like it. When I go into brighter light, it behaves as though there is no flash. Still exposes properly per the flash but regis

I changed lenses and the problem went away. It seems to not like my FA50/1.4. H. Sincerely, Collin Brendemuehl "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose" -- Jim Elliott -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pd

What exposure mode are you using? I've found that I get my best results by going to manual (ambient) exposure mode and setting 1/60-1/125 second and locking the aperture to f/4-f/8 with a lot of dedicated flash systems. Then the TTL flash metering works very nicely. Most seem to get easily confuse

What Godders said. For flash exposure situations where the flash is the primary light source, I go to manual exposure. I may even use a high speed shutter to balance foreground and background, but I don't let the camera's tiny brain try to figure out the parameters. Paul On Sep 1, 2010, at 8:40

I know this sounds a bit funny but most of us use a K-x for low light to not use a flash. So I have to at least ask what ISO you are shooting at? Also is this the popup flash or a clip on? Have you considered boosting iso up to 6400 to see how it would perform. These days I almost never use

Flash can be a nice supplement in all kinds of light. I frequently use it in full sun. Whether or not the camera has enough sensitivity for the ambient light is beside the point in my opinion. Paul On Sep 1, 2010, at 9:06 PM, Bruce Dayton wrote: > I know this sounds a bit funny but most of us u

Guys, I was using the pop-up flash, set @ ISO 200, for some CraigsList ads. http://columbus.craigslist.org/pho/1931961328.html Nothing "serious" but still strange. With the A35/2, when the flash pops up the ss changes to 1/180 automatically. With the FA50/1.4, not so. At least not this evening. S

I think we are agreeing. I use flash all the time - but more as fill rather than primary source. Of course when there is that much light, one hardly needs the low light capabilities of the K-x. That is when my K20 comes out to play. -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. "paul stenqui

The FA50 seems to have dirty contacts. I suppose it was correctly set to 'A' setting. It may need a repair if cleaning the contacts does not help. 2010/9/2 Collin Brendemuehl : > Guys, > > I was using the pop-up flash, set @ ISO 200, for some CraigsList ads. > http://columbus.craigslist.org/pho/
