Thanks for all your advise. I have done it, and although you can still see
it a bit, the filter goes on and off as if it was new.

I have a Tamron lens, (almost) built as a tank, with a dent in the lens
barrel, which prevents filters to be screwed on. (58mm) Is there a way to
