Since the release of pdns-recursor 3.1.7 you can make externa function with
the help of the LUA language...
Well, what I've done is to take the host file from the site
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm to work with pdns-recursor.
So from now on you don't have to see those annoying ads

I'm getting PowerDNS up and running and so far really like it. I'm
having a problem though with creating a record to resolve the domain
by itself. For example, I would like a CNAME or A record for the
domain by itself so that example.com resolves to an IP address.
This shouldn't be a problem,
I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.
My environment:
FreeBSD 7.0
OpenLDAP 2.4 server and clients (built using FreeBSD ports)
PowerDNS 2.9.21 (built using FreeBSD ports)
What works:
PowerDNS correctly serves up the names in its domain by looking up via
LDAP. No problem.
