ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display & Sistem Informasi), menampilkan enc
(elektronik Navigasi Bagan) diakui dengan peraturan SOLAS. Oleh karena itu jika
negara bendera disetujui, sistem dapat digunakan sebagai sumber utama informasi
navigasi di tempat grafik kertas, maka dibutuhkan Petugas Navigasi dengan
Sertifikat ECDIS berlaku.
ECS (Electronic Chart System), setiap pengaturan perangkat keras dan perangkat
lunak untuk menampilkan grafik yang tidak sepenuhnya sesuai ECDIS disetujui
untuk navigasi. Ketika kapal beroperasi ECS grafik kertas tetap dasar resmi
untuk navigasi, sehingga kapal harus menyimpan dan menggunakan folio penuh
onboard up-to-date grafik kertas. Dalam hal ini, OOW tidak memerlukan terus
ECDIS Sertifikat.
Jika ECDI sepenuhnya kompatibel dan disetujui bendera negara, harus dinyatakan
dalam E Berbentuk Kapal Kargo Sertifikat Peralatan Keselamatan, angka 3 -
Rincian sistem navigasi dan peralatan.
Pelatihan ECDIS diperlukan bila sistem alat utama onboard navigasi. Namun
ECDIS Pelatihan adalah murni opsional jika berarti utama onboard grafik
navigasi adalah kertas, meskipun pengalaman telah menunjukkan bahwa jika ECDIS
dilengkapi maka pelatihan sangat dianjurkan.

if flag state approved, the system may be used as primary source of
navigational information in place of paper charts, then required Navigation
Officers with a valid ECDIS Certificate.
ECS (Electronic Chart System), any arrangement of hardware and software for
displaying charts that is not fully compliant ECDIS approved for navigation.
When vessel operate ECS the paper charts remain the official basis for
navigation, so the vessel must retain and use a full folio of up-to-date paper
charts onboard. In this case, OOW not require hold ECDIS Certificate.
If ECDI is fully compliant and flag state approved, should be stated in Form E
of Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate, item 3 – Details of Navigation
system and equipment.
ECDIS Training is required when the system is the primary means of navigation
onboard. However ECDIS Training is purely optional if the primary means of
navigation onboard is paper charts, although experience has shown that if ECDIS
is fitted then training is highly advisable.
