With respect to the claim that, in the absence of government, there would be a "natural" free market: Once again, I urge penellers to take a look at THE RISE AND FALL OF FREEDOM OF CONTRACT by Atiyah. I can't imagine that one could read this history and come away with the view that the laissez-faire system arises spontaneously. This is strictly flat earth stuff. Enuff said. Peter Dorman
