I beg to differ.  Doug's list, although it is the one 
that appears to be taking more action from pen-l, is indeed 
a new combination with a lively bunch of people from 
diverse areas.  
     But Louis's new list does not "fill a void."  That the 
Spoons Collective dumped the marxism lists does not mean 
that they ceased to exist.  They have simply moved off into 
various different new home bases (utah, emory, etc.) and 
become ever more fragmented. Louis's new list, however 
virtuous and fascinating it might be, is a further movement 
in the fragmentation that began with the original splitting 
of the original marxism list several years ago.  
Unfortunately, as I think he himself would have to admit, 
Louis P. was one of the most important players in what led 
to that split.
     BTW, I think that Louis's behavior has drastically 
improved since then.  Although sometimes too long, I 
generally find his postings on the lists we are both on to 
be quite interesting.  I just can't be on too many lists, 
and his sounds like one too many.
