Children of working parents praise them, but note stress, says The
Washington Post (page A1) in reporting on a study of family life by
researcher Ellen Galinsky, president of the Families and Work Institute, a
New York think tank that tracks workplace trends. Two-thirds of the U.S.
children report worries about what they perceive as work-related stress and
fatigue. The study is among the first to take such questions to children
rather than their parents. ...
Existing home sales lost ground again in August, eroded by higher mortgage
rates and rising prices. The National Association of Realtors said sales of
existing homes fell 2.8 percent last month. August ended with the fourth
drop in 5 months, following a 4.1 percent decline in July. Despite the
stumbles, most analysts believe housing demand is strong enough that only a
big jolt in the economy could unhinge things for the industry. ... (Wall
