Subject: Re: Sri Lanka Garment Workers Struggle (fwd)

 PLEASE CIRCULATE

Today the factories were temporarily closed and 5400 workers were sent
home without their overdue wages or bonuses. We are still campaigning in
Hong Kong to demand that the workers be paid and that their future be
made clear by the management. One of the workers was brought to Hong Kong
from Sri Lanka by the Hong Kong Clothing Industry Employees General
Union. She will lead a demonstration at the head office of Bonaventure
Textiles. If the workers demands are not met she and supporters from Hong
Kong will begin a hunger strike.

We have also heard that the workers at the company's New York office have
 been laid off.

 In solidarity

 AMRC
