This is a good point (below). Airline quality may well have deteriorated. Certainly the food has. What has happened to accidents however? And how about timeliness? There may be a real opportunity for a contribution here, in terms of documenting goods and services whose quality has declined lately in a way that may not be captured by the CPI.
