I am pleased to announce that the workers of the Economic Policy Institute -- economists, programmers, librarians, administrative assistants, receptionist, etc. have organized and affiliated with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Employees (IFPTE). Unlike some other union elections, the card check was unanimous. To their credit, Management (!) was amenable to the decision and agreed to the basics of recognition with little difficulty. I'd be interested to know of other union locals (outside the IFPTE) that include non-academic economists, statisticians, or social scientists in general. Meanwhile, forgive me for sitting here in my office, chuckling like a madman. MBS "I feel better than James Brown." -- Was Not Was ==================================================== Max B.
