I have been thinking about the recent state of pen-l. We are getting a
lot of long posts without much context, sectarian posts, and very little
that has to do with economics.

I don’t want to see the list become a purely academic exercise, but I
think that there is a need for a venue to discuss the relationship
between economic conditions and the potential for political change. I
think that there is also a need to help progressives understand the
economy and to critique conventional economic theory.

Maybe we can think about how to improve the situation over the next day
or two.
