bhopal, dec 10 (PTI)-- noted enviornmentalist medha patkar, who is on a
hunger strike demanding stoppage of work on the dollar five-billion
multipurpose project over river narmada, was arrested early saturday and
hospitalised for administration of  i.V. Fluids.
 
 
Patkar, who is head of the narmada bachao andolan (save narmada
movement) in central india,  was arrested along with three of her
colleagues who have been on an indefinite fast since november 21. The
activists offered no resistance.
Official sources said patkar and her friends were admitted to the
intensive care unit of the local jai prakash hospital in bhopal.
Later, more than 100 narmada bachao andolan activists who were marching
to the chief minister's  residence in support of their demands were
arrested at the polytechnic square.
