The list is to create discussion around alternatives to the prevailing economic paradigms, whether Marxist or neoclassical. This is an invitation to join persons of similar intent for creative intellectual work and to create more rapid change in economic thought. We plan to discuss and build archives around such questions as sustainability, the role of economic growth, free trade and the environment, and the role of multilateral economic institutions in the sustainability of the development process. In addition to providing a repository for articles, reviews, et cetera, we are particularly interested in creating interesting archives accessible through gopher and (soon) the Web which faculty and students can use in their courses. The archives will be a way to share syllabi, course handouts, bulletins and information that can facilitate substantial change in the way we think about economics and the way it is practiced.
