Hello,

My present system: Red Hat Linux 7.1 (OS 2.4.2-2)

Output of "rpm -qa | grep -i perl" is:

    gimp-perl-1.2.1-5
    perl-Perl-RPM-0.291-2
    mod_perl-1.24_01-2
    perl-5.6.0-12
    perl-DBD-Pg-0.95-1
    perl-SGMLSpm-1.03ii-4
    perl-DBI-1.14-10
    openssl-perl-0.9.6-3
    postgresql-perl-7.0.3-8
    groff-perl-1.16.1-7
    perl-DBD-MySQL-1.2215-1

I want to install: ActivePerl-5.8.0.804-i686-linux.rpm

The command "rpm -e --test perl-5.6.0-12"
issues error message about breaking lots of dependencies

Questions:

1) Should I uninstall anything before installing 5.8.0.804?
2) What command should I use? Will
      #rpm -i ActivePerl-5.8.0.804-i686-linux.rpm
be sufficient? Or do I just do "#rpm -U Active..."?
3) What else should I upgrade, and where do I get the
   newer rpms to do so?

Thanks,

--Suresh
