What do you want to do, send or receive mail? What is your application?
There are many tools out there but here a some I have used:
To send mail look at Mail::Sender
ppm install Mail-Sender --location=http://Jenda.Krynicky.cz/perl
To receive mail look at Mail::POP3Client
ppm install Mail
