Hi Yoshiko!

I think the amount of space left at the bottom depends on the size of the
geckos. Most pests should still get in with a gap of 5-10 mm, but if the
geckos are quite small, then the smallest the gap can be while permitting
pest entry is best.

There is lots of great advice on this thread! If the geckos are larger,
hardware cloth covers could work.
