I've written a Smartphone / tablet app that I think is a good beginning reference tool. The app lets you browse through a list that currently has 28 collection type pests. There is information about pest - common name, scientific name, order, risk, ecotype and an image. Tapping the image brings a zoomable image that will let you get up close and able to see some nice detail of the pest. It's currently available for the Android type phones and tablets and I've got a version for the Apple series of phones and pads. The Apple apps need to go through an approval process so it will be a couple weeks before it's available. This version is free and if you have an Android running phone or tablet (Version 2.2 and up) I have submitted it to the Android Market but I'm not sure how long it will take to be available through their approval process. In the meantime it can be downloaded at http://collectionpests.com/apps/collectionpestsreference.apk You will have to turn on the feature of your Android to allow third party tools to be installed. I've run it on the Android Atrix Smartphone and the Pandigital 7" $149 tablet, I think it's also the one that has been used as a $79 special offer. I figured I could test it and the shoppers at the local Best Buy will have something interesting to look on the holiday display unit. Next versions are aimed at having the ability to have the list added to by users, community shared lists and private lists. Ultimately being able to enter pests tracking information through smart device I think would be very useful. With cameras and gps built in they can now incorporate what we talked about years ago. If you've any questions, problems or ideas, please pass them along to me, l...@zaks.com. thanks, leon ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To send an email to the list, send your msg to pestlist@museumpests.Net To unsubscribe from this list send an email to pestlist@museumpests.net and in the subject put: "unsubscribe" - no quotes please.
