Well, I have tested a bit more, including DFBSD. Although it handled the traffic with limits a bit better (otoh, the computer was much slower - p2 333, so it might have had some influence), it still had problems. Option HZ bumped to 1000 (as is recommended in most cases, when altq is in question

Won't that be an issue for the firewall? It would RDR the packet in order to change the destination address to 192.168.x.x (for a packet destined for the tunnel), but the firewall also has routes to the internal network for those addresses. I would think that it wouldn't be able to differentia
