I agree with your suggestions. Except for writing localized keys directly to pgadmin3.desktop It is outside translation workflow. Better way is: - Rename pgadmin3.desktop to pgadmin3.desktop.in - Add line xgettext -k -kName -kGenericName -kComment -kKeywords -o pgadmin3.pot pkg/pgadmin3.desktop.i
