I just completed a re-install of postgresql, from source, and have
encountered the same problem with the hanging shell response to my attempts
to invoke a psql command prompt, even using the -a or --echo-all switches.

The phpPgAdmin code base, being based on phpMyAdmin, was too hairy to
try and add schema support in for 7.3, so we decided to do a complete
rewrite of the system, which we dubbed as "webdb". The framework of the

Here is a bit of a follow up to the PAM setup. If you want to
authenticate against an LDAP source then creatinga /etc/pam.d/postgresql
file containing the following:
