We're planning on using veritas filesystem and volume manager with linux
and an hitachi disk array. I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences
with veritas fs and vm on linux and hitachi both good and bad.
Also, has anyone compared veritas fs with any of the other linux
filesystems, like xfs

If I don't use -d and pipe the output of pg_restore into psql, I can
restore the database, but it takes about 20 hours to restore a .2.8gb dump
when uncompressed.
So my question is: what is the syntax to restore this dump?

Hello,
Is it possible in 7.1.3 to send the postmaster a signal that would cause
it to send a SIGTERM to all it's children, but wouldn't cause the
postmaster to exit?
You used to be able to do this back in 6.5.2 with SIGQUIT, but the docs
only seem to indicate that you can only cause the
suspect some of it is due to enabling logging and tcp connections between
the DMZ and MZ, rather than the local domain socket, but I think this new
server could do better...
Any help is appreciated.
