I've installed Pharo, both the one click and separate
package installs on my Ubuntu box and updated to 10442.
Nothing responds to meta click except the menus. If I
bring up a menu and meta click anywhere on the screen
I get a halo around the menu.

If not, may I request that we remember to apply due consideration when
choosing names for globals, including class-variables?
The top version of ScriptLoader in the Pharo repository consumes the
name #Repository, preventing any class or global from using that name.

at the end of the Pharo.ini file.
(the *.ini from the packaged VM does not include that, similar
to the squeak vm)

Please see item 1200 on the bug tracker and StartupAndShutdown on the wiki. I
have briefly outlined the current problems with startup and shutdown and
described Dolphin's solution to them. Some proof of concept code is attached
to the bug tracker entry.
