Last year I bought what was represented to be a collection of high end needle
tins from a guy in Germany. He had run several previous auctions with some
pretty rare tins, so when I saw a new listing for a collection, I bid 200 euros
on it as a proxy bid. Someone kept bumping it up until it reac
I am not sure if Kurt's email and this one are in reference to my post about
having something stolen by visiting collectors, because the subject line is
different, but if it is, I know they stole that record. I only had about a
dozen out, and as I played each one, I returned it to its box. They

I agree to that Kurt. I have many things lost. They will pop up. I would say
worse yet when I was very active collecting records I would see a nice label
on Kurt's glossy covers or at a friends house. A year or two later I swore I
owned it. Would spend hours looking for what I didn't own. Kept my s

How long ago did you buy the machine? I've had reasonably good success with

I would say this re. missing items. It can be very easy to assume a
person took something when they've been visiting and an important
item is missing. But invariably, I've found that things have a way of

So once again, eBay's "Resolution Center" proved to be the pathetic, worthless
joke it always is? I have never had even one single claim be met with anything
but form letters and messages from the utterly confused, much less resolved.

That was pretty much the end of the story. I ended up re-restoring the machine
and it came out reasonably nice. The reason I shared that whole exchange was it
simply had to be read to be believed. I was stunned at the lack of rational
thinking, denial of responsibility, and borderline psychotic
Greg,
Can you send me a couple of additional pictures on the Columbia BI and the
Edison home. Are there any dents on the BI's horn and is the finish just
worn through on the Edison case or is it flaking and does it have the back
bracket and top?

You might try this, as it has worked for me: Rotate the turntable and find the
low point - GENTLY but firmly raise up on the turntable from the low point and
see if it straightens out. Just a thought...

Bent spindle? Is the motor and motor board plumb? How tight is the
turntable on the spindle? Bent spindles are pretty rare. Who makes the
machine? Is it so uneven the turntable is hitting the case causing the drag
you speak of?

Plenty of action as always on this site! Now I have an uneven turntable that
obviously will cause dragg let alone strain on the spring. The spindle must
be slightly bent. Is this fixable, and I suppose it is? Your commments
please? Also would like to hear from folk with variatons on a Columb
