John,
I'm inclined to agree with Tim. She is looking to buy something you don't
have. Point her to the crapophones on eBay and educate her as to why
yours is different or even better. She might come to understand that the
trend she's chasing, design or retro-chic, is flawed.

Hi John,I can understand your concern as both a collector and occasional
seller. I feel as collectors it is our "unofficial duty" to preserve these
machines as best we can. Unfortunately we end up with machines all over the
house and periodically need to lighten the load. If you really just want

I think John is correct to have concern over the fate of the machine, though
"theoretically" sellers are not obligated to care about the fate of what they
sell, unless perhaps it's a kitten or a puppy. I would direct the lady to the

happens to it.Maybe you should arrange for her to see/hear it if you are
close enough and try to determine if she hopes to modify the machine or if
she just doesn't understand what you said.

serious inquiries on it. Her first question: Does it have a bracket and horn? I
said no and I explained that Victrolas have the horns on the inside behind the
doors. She writes back and says "A bracket, elbow
