Description: ------------ PHP 5.1.1 is the last version of PHP which gave expected result of this statement. I noticed that next versions return wrong result. I tested PHP version 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 5.1.6 and the all returned unexpected (wrong) result. As you can see, the mistake appeares when you assign value to the variable which is passed to function as a reference: In my example: test($i=array()); Reproduce code: --------------- <? function test(&$x) { $x[]=1; $x[]=2; $x[]=3; } test($i=array()); $i[]=4; var_dump($i); ?> Expected result: ---------------- array(4) { [0]=> int(1) [1]=> int(2) [2]=> int(3) [3]=> int(4) } Actual result: -------------- array(1) { [3]=> int(4) } -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=38607&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 4.4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=trysnapshot44 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 5.2): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=trysnapshot52 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 6.0): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=trysnapshot60 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=needtrace Need Reproduce Script: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=needscript Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=float No Zend Extensions: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=nozend MySQL Configuration Error: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=38607&r=mysqlcfg
