I don't think this should be a "Won't Fix".  It would be nice to have
not be whitespace-dependent as the WTF level of it is pretty high.  I
agree that it isn't a crucial thing, but let's leave it open as a
feature request in case someone feels inspired at some point.

Can PHP_NEW_EXTENSION be changed to allow spaces?

This is valid:

PHP_NEW_EXTENSION(foo, foo.c, $ext_shared)

but this is invalid:

PHP_NEW_EXTENSION( foo, foo.c, $ext_shared )
