d: php_bz2.dll and php_zlib.dll.
I noticed that commenting out the "zlib" extension in the php.ini file fixed
the problem but that's not a convenient solution, isn't it?

Hi list!
My config:
- Apache 1.3.20 on win32;
- php 4.0.7-rc3 from php4win.de (thanks Daniel) loaded as a module;
- php.ini is the recommanded one except pathes and 2 extensions
loaded: gzip and bz2.
My test script:
It returns "-5" !

BTW as a wrote a few messages before this bug seems
to be fixed
with the zend snapshots since 2001-06-15, at least
for the cgi.
